This one-of-a-kind deep green sea glass necklace was found by the maker on the shores of Seaham Hall Beach, on the North East coast of England — a coastline internationally recognised for its historic sea glass and glassmaking heritage.
Seaham’s shoreline carries the legacy of Victorian and early 20th-century glassworks, where surplus and discarded glass once entered the sea. Over time, these fragments were shaped by powerful tides and storms, gradually softened by sand and stone. After more than a century of natural tumbling in the North Sea, only a small number of pieces return to shore with the depth of colour, thickness, and smooth, frosted surface suitable for jewellery.
This particular piece was personally discovered on the beach, then intentionally selected to be made into jewellery for its rich green tone, balanced shape, and beautifully weathered texture. The surface retains subtle marks of its journey — quiet evidence of time, movement, and the sea itself — making it a true example of jewellery-grade Seaham sea glass. No two pieces are ever alike, and this exact form will never be found again.
The sea glass is finished with a solid stainless steel paperclip chain (approximately 16 inches) and secured with a lobster clasp for everyday wear. The clean, contemporary chain contrasts beautifully with the organic softness of the glass, creating a necklace that feels both modern and timeless.
