This softly luminous pale green sea glass bracelet features a beautifully shaped piece of sea glass found by the maker on the shores of Seaham Hall Beach, on the North East coast of England — a coastline internationally recognised for its historic sea glass and glassmaking heritage.
Seaham’s shoreline is closely linked to Victorian and early 20th-century glassworks, where surplus glass once entered the sea. Over time, fragments were shaped by wave action, sand, and stone, gradually losing sharp edges and developing their distinctive sea-frosted surface. After more than 100 years of natural tumbling in the North Sea, only a small proportion of pieces return to shore with the clarity, smoothness, and strength required for jewellery.
While green sea glass is more commonly found than rarer colours such as pink or blue, this particular pale, seafoam-green shade is far less frequently encountered. Collectors associate lighter greens with early window glass and tableware, rather than modern bottles, and pieces with an even, softly translucent colour — free from staining or clouding — are considered especially desirable.
This piece was personally discovered on the beach, then intentionally selected to be made into jewellery for its gentle green tone, balanced proportions, and smooth, naturally sculpted form. Fine surface textures remain from its long journey through the sea, giving the glass depth and quiet character while remaining comfortable to wear. As with all true sea glass, no two pieces are ever alike.
The sea glass is paired with a solid stainless steel paperclip chain bracelet measuring approximately 7 inches, finished with a lobster clasp for a secure and comfortable fit. The clean, contemporary chain complements the softness of the glass, allowing its natural colour and shape to remain the focal point.
