This striking chunky turquoise sea glass necklace features a substantial piece of sea glass found by the maker on the shores of Seaham Hall Beach, on the North East coast of England — a coastline celebrated worldwide for its historic sea glass.
During the late Victorian period and early 20th century, Seaham was home to major glassworks. Surplus and discarded glass entered the sea, where decades of wave action, sand, and stone gradually reshaped it. After more than 100 years of natural tumbling in the North Sea, only a small number of fragments survive with the size, thickness, and smooth, sea-frosted surface required for jewellery.
This particular piece was personally discovered on the beach, then intentionally selected to be made into jewellery for its bold turquoise colour, generous proportions, and beautifully softened edges. Larger pieces of sea glass are far less common than smaller fragments, making this a rare, jewellery-grade find with real visual presence. Its softly rounded form and luminous colour are the direct result of time and tide — a shape that cannot be replicated.
The sea glass is paired with a silver-plated chain measuring approximately 18 inches, allowing the glass to sit comfortably and confidently when worn. The simplicity of the setting keeps the focus on the natural character of the glass itself.
